Mantra Deepening Intensive for Established Practitioners
Knowing a mantra and understanding how it works are two different things.
This intensive is for people who have been chanting for a while — maybe you learned mantras in a teacher training, or picked them up through a studio class — but feel like something is still missing. The practice feels mechanical, or you are not sure how to work with it outside of a group setting.
What gets examined here
The course looks at mantra from three angles: phonetic structure, rhythmic pattern, and the relationship between repetition and attention. You will not be learning new mantras every week. Instead, you will spend extended time with a small number of forms — examining their metre, their syllable counts, and how subtle changes in pace or breath placement shift the quality of your concentration.
Practical focus of each session
Week one maps the chandas system — the metrical framework classical mantras are built on. Week two works with tonal variation in Vedic chanting, which differs significantly from the monotone style common in modern yoga classes. Weeks three and four are structured around refining your personal practice: you bring what you currently do, and we work with that directly rather than replacing it.
Live sessions run on Tuesday evenings AEST. Each session is 90 minutes with a 15-minute open discussion at the end. Recordings are available within 24 hours for participants in other time zones.
